Cue the Von Trapp Family Singers…well…maybe not.  But still, here is a list of the books, sites, and instagram accounts I am constantly recommending to friends.  Enjoy!  Send me a message and recommend your favorites too.

Because I have kids...

I'm reading...

Teaching Montessori in the Home: Preschool Years, by Elizabeth G. Hainstock

The Magical Yet, by Angela Diterlizzi

Rosie Revere, Engineer, by Andrea Beaty

I've bookmarked...

Busy Toddler

“Making it to naps, one activity at a time.” Susie has been a lifesaver for me!  Her ideas for sensory bins and play-based learning have changed how I parent.  We regularly have a plastic bin in our kitchen filled with rice or water beads or foam or….you name it!  The best part is that her ideas are simple, engaging, and very rarely require me to purchase anything extra.  We are using her Playing Preschool curriculum this fall for preschool at home.  Follow her on instagram @BusyToddler.

A Mighty Girl

“The world’s largest collection of books, toys and movies for smart, confident, and courageous young girls.”  This has been my go-to resource for books that feature strong female characters who don’t need a prince to save them.

I'm following...

@KristinaToddlerApproved – Ideas for preschool-age activities

@DaysWithGrey – Ideas for preschool-age activities, featuring “Breakfast Invitations”!

@HereWeeRead – Helping you find quality diverse books

@TheMomPsychologist – Dr. Jazmine McCoy helps exhausted and overwhelmed mamas understand and connect with their little ones

Just for me...

I've bookmarked...

Lindsay Letters

Her art (both abstract and lettered art) is all over my house!  I love her style.

The Bible Project

“Helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.” Hands-down, best resource for adults and teenagers to understand the Bible.

I'm following...

@MorganHarperNichols – Morgan creates beautiful visuals of color and poetry, and she never fails to encourage me with her art.  Check out her Storyteller app for daily inspiration and her book All Along You Were Blooming.

@JessicaMalatyRivera – Jessica is a microbiologist and infectious disease epidemiologist who leads The Covid Tracking Project.  Such a good source for unbiased, data-driven info on COVID-19.

@Etst – Kelle Hampton’s posts never fail to make me smile and remind me to find beauty in the simplest of places.

@TheSairaSiddiqui – Confessions of a Muslim Mom.  A few years ago, I was challenged to make sure I was following people of different religions, as well as BIPOC writers.  I began following Saira’s account, intrigued especially as we grew up in the same town, several years apart.  She shares about being a Muslim in white America, as well as her theory of unschooling.
